LITURGICAL MINISTRIES
Altar Servers: Assist the Priest at Mass. Open to everyone in the 3rd grade and above that has received First Communion. Must attend training. Eucharistic Minister: Assist the priest in distributing the Holy Eucharist at regular and special Masses. After instruction, people are commissioned for this special ministry for a three year period. Sacristan: After instruction, help maintain the Altar and Sacristy area following Mass in preparation for the next Mass. Homebound Ministry: Eucharistic Ministers are often called to take the Eucharist to our homebound parishioners. Each Friday, ministers take a group of parishioners to visit, pray with and provide a Communion Service. Also called upon after weekend Masses. Lector: To proclaim the Word of God in a manner befitting the importance and reverence of the occasion. Ministers of the Word attend a training session. You will receive a Lector's workbook so that, through practice and prayer, a person becomes an effective proclaimer of the Scriptures. Usher: Welcome all those who enter the House of God in such a way that they are made a part of our faith community, and to be of service to them. Assist in seating prior to the Mass and take up the Offertory. After Mass they distribute the bulletins. Must be able to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to Mass starting. Gift Bearer: To represent the faith community in its offerings during the Mass. Gift Bearers present the gifts of treasure, water, wine and bread to the priest at offertory time. |
MUSIC
MINISTRIES Cantor: (Song Leader) Leads the congregation in singing during Mass. Training and help is provided. Instrumentalists: (piano, guitar, etc.) Assist as accompaniment for the cantor, using their musical talents to enhance our music ministry program. Choir: This choral group leads the parish in song at the 5:30 pm Saturday Mass. Practice is on Monday evenings at 7 pm. There are special choirs for Holy Week/Easter as well as Christmas. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION MINISTRIES Catechist (Religious Education Teacher) These volunteers teach a weekly class beginning in September and ending in late April. Class times for preK - 5th grades are Sundays from 10:15 am to 11:30 am. Confirmation Class for 7th grade + is Sunday mornings from 9 to 11:30 am and includes Mass. LifeTeen & Edge for Middle and high school students meet on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 pm. Catechist Asst.: Assist the teacher in the classroom in a variety of ways by making copies, preparing the lesson for the following week and assisting with students when necessary. Substitute or Helper: Substitute volunteers fill in when regular teachers cannot be there. Lesson plans and additional help and ideas are available. Helpers help before, during and after classes by assisting the Director with a variety of tasks such as answering phones, monitoring attendance, making copies, monitoring students, etc. R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults): This is a process for those who wish to become Catholic or wish to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation as an adult to learn about the Catholic faith and traditions. Class begins in September and ends at the Easter Vigil. |

Sacramental Preparation: Would coordinate those who wish to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and Eucharist that are in the 3rd through 9th grades. Lesson plans and additional help is available. PRAYER Eucharistic Adoration This is a special time of prayer in company with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Friday morning from 8 to 9 am. Anyone is welcome to come and visit for even a few minutes. Prayer Chain: Participants actively remember those who request special prayers. As a "link" in the chain, you receive a call from someone with a particular intention, then you contact the next person on the list. THEN PRAY... the power of prayer. Family Rosary: Families meet each Sunday evening at 7 pm in the Main Church to pray the Rosary. This is a great opportunity to pray with your own family and join other families as well. Remember, everyone is a member of the "Parish Family", so come and pray. Rosary is followed by a social downstairs in the Parish Center. Rosary Leaders: Volunteers lead the congregation in the Rosary before Mass. There is also an opportunity to lead the Rosary at local nursing homes. Funeral Ministry: This is a special ministry to help our families in their grief. Coordinate calling parishioners to provide food, provide hot dish, salad or cake, help in setting up, serving and cleaning up during the meal following the service. Shawl Ministry: Crochet, knit or sew prayer shawls or lap robes to be given to the family that needs to know that their Parish Family is wrapping them in prayers and comfort. |

Please see our Youth page on ways to share your talents and faith with the young people in our parish. PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL An advisory board to the pastor in parish matters. The Pastoral Council meets on the last Monday of each month at 7 pm. You are encouraged to attend the meetings throughout the year. It is through your input and participation that our parish can continue to grow and meet the needs of its people. Below is a list of committee and organization representatives of the council. If you are interested in participating on a committee, please contact the parish office or the pastor or see the bulletin cover for the Chairperson's name and phone number. Knights of Columbus: A group of Catholic men that serve our parish and community through works of charity. Our St. Therese council is very active and a blessing to the parish. They meet the second Monday of the month. Come to meeting and find out more. There are more groups and ministries throughout the diocese.
